GENERAL

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the City and Court Services department.
  • While performing any procedure, all associates and contract personnel must observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines. The use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
  • Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
  • Adhere to appropriate City operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for receiving warrants from the Municipal Court Clerk’s office, preparing warrants and information for entry by police department into the GCIC/NCIC, and clearing appropriate warrants when served or with validation problems;
  • Prepares individuals files folders and files the warrants in the appropriate warrant file within the Court department, maintains files of active, inactive, served, or cleared warrants;
  • May be required to contact other law enforcement agencies or businesses in an effort to enlist their assistance and cooperation in the service of the outstanding warrants;
  • Makes telephone contacts as necessary to contact persons either who assist in locating the wanted person or the wanted person or the wanted person; attempts to persuade the wanted person too surrender to police and provides information to wanted person as to the charges and steps that must be taken to satisfy warrant;
  • Provides collected information to the Warrant Officer as to the location of wanted persons;
  • Perform computer checks of all individuals coming to the attention of the department to determine if warrants are active and advise appropriate personnel;
  • Incumbent will run drivers and criminal histories for court calendars as needed;
  • Performs general office work as required, and performs other duties as required and/or directed by Chief Judge and/or Court Administrator;
  • Attend annual Court Clerks recertification training and all GCIC training.
JOB SCOPE:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the effective and efficient daily operations of the Municipal Court.

Guidelines:

Guidelines include City and Departmental policies and procedures, City Codes and Ordinances, Federal, State, and Local laws, and GCIC Rules and Regulations.

COMMUNICATIONS/CUSTOMER CONTACT:

Contacts are typically with co-workers, attorneys, judges, solicitors, other law enforcement agencies, and the general public. Contacts are typically to give and exchange information, provide services, resolve conflicts, and solve problems.

Qualifications:

COMPETENCIES/SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING PREFERRED:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice or related field preferred; supplemented by six (6) months of previous experience in court procedures and records management, legal office work, office administration, customer service, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must be GCIC certified or get certifications completed within the first sixty (60) days.
  • Must be able to maintain valid Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Terminal Operator certification.
  • Must be able to maintain valid Georgia Court Clerk certification.
