Entertainment and Media Teacher
- Job Title: Entertainment and Media Teacher

9 Month Teacher - FLSA: Exempt
- Reports To: CTE Director
A High School Teacher of Entertainment and Media instructs students in video production, digital media, storytelling, and industry technology, covering topics such as filming, lighting, editing, and media analysis. They create project-based learning environments that build teamwork, creative thinking, and CTE (Career Technical Education) skills in arts and entertainment.
Qualifications- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Studies, Communication, or related field. Tech Entertainment and Media (T78)
- Credentialing: Valid state-issued Single Subject Teaching Credential (e.g., Arts, Media, and Entertainment) or CTE credential.
- Experience: Previous experience in the entertainment industry or previous teaching experience in media arts is highly preferred.
- Curriculum Development & Instruction: Develop lesson plans covering video production, animation, graphic design, audio engineering, and media literacy.
- Technical Proficiency: Teach the safe and proper use of digital cameras, editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud), lighting equipment, and sound design tools.
- Project-Based Learning: Guide students through authentic, hands‑on projects, such as producing short films, broadcasting, digital marketing content, or journalism pieces.
- Safety & Compliance: Monitor the safe use of equipment, maintain an organized studio/classroom, and adhere to district policies.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student projects, assignments, and performances using established academic and industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues, administrators, and industry partners to provide authentic experiences and portfolio‑building opportunities.
- Mentorship: Provide one‑on‑one guidance to students, fostering professional skills, and career development. Also, establish the SDE required CTSO for the program and participate in State Competitions for the CTSO.
- Expertise in digital media production software and hardware.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Passion for mentoring students in creative and technical fields.
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy Manual, Student First Act and the Board’s Salary Schedule – 9 Month Teacher.
