Per policy GDBA, the district will recognize up to ten years of similar, previous experience of an employee when placing that employee on the salary schedule. The highest step a classified staff employee may enter the district is at step 11 of the salary schedule. Here is our salary schedule.
Building Custodian- Be able to read and interpret basic cleaning supplies directions and/or instructions.
- Ability to lift at least eighty (80) pounds.
- Must be able to use an eight‑foot ladder to do light custodial tasks.
- High School diploma or equivalent GED.
- Other alternatives to the above qualifications, as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Director of Maintenance and Principal.
Job GoalTo provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
Performance Responsibilities- Shovel and/or plow sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
- Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are locked and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
- Sweep classrooms and dust furniture daily.
- Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it.
- Scrub and disinfect toilets, floors, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
- Wash all windows on both the inside and outside.
- Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
- Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
- Clean all whiteboards/chalkboards daily.
- Secure all windows and doors within area of assigned responsibility.
- Maintain confidential nature of all school related matters.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Principal.
Twelve months. Salary set by the Board.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
Physical, Mental and Visual DemandsThe employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well‑being of others. The job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
