Staff Accountant
Location:
Union, NJ | Pay Rate: $29 - $31 per hour DOE |
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8 AM - 4PM or 9AM - 5PM (on site then hybrid after 6 months)
Non‑profit mental health and behavioral health organization located in Union, NJ is in need of a Staff Accountant to join the team! This individual will support the accounting, payroll and grant reporting functions. It will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance.
Duties- Maintain accurate monthly financial records, including payroll, accounts receivable, expenses, and revenue.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare supporting documentation for audits and grants.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, invoices, employee expenses, and credit card transactions.
- Prepare grant expenditure and billing reports and support financial reporting requirements.
- Analyze vendor costs and ensure proper expense accruals.
- Process payroll using ADP Workforce Now and ensure compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Prepare payroll reports and payroll‑related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist with annual audits and special projects as needed.
- Support fiscal system improvements and use of Sage Intacct and Concur.
- Provide excellent customer service using respectful, person‑first communication.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related area, is required.
- Relevant work experience
- Knowledge of GAAP and payroll compliance
- Experience in nonprofit finance preferred
- Proficiency with MS Word Suite
