Performing Arts Instructor

The Summer Performing Arts Instructors will assist the New Jersey Arts Department with the preparations and operation of the Christian, faith-based, traveling programs: NJ Arts on Tour and NJ Music and Arts Camp. The instructors will act as an instructor, stage hand, and program coordinator.

• Teach and lead classes in dance, drama, timbrels, fine arts, etc. to youth and teens.
• Lead and prepare other Arts Department programs as needed, such as, technique, devotions, etc.
• Assist in day-to-day office work- copying, filing, organizing, printing, etc.
• Assist as a member of the tech crew for NJ Arts on Tour showcases and Music and Arts Camp finales.
• Help create, develop, and purchase any costumes, props, sets, or materials needed.
• Travel to the various NJ Arts on Tour locations each week using own transportation.
• Participate in all necessary trainings needed prior to the start of the NJ Arts on Tour Program.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Have a background in the performing arts (dance, timbrels, drama, fine arts, etc.)
• Feel comfortable teaching youth about Christian faith.
• Be able to lift and carry arts equipment- drama blocks, etc.
• Have prior experience in preparing and teaching arts classes.
• Enjoy and have prior experience working with youth (specifically ages 7-16).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be willing to support and/or lead faith-based kids’ activities and programming.
• Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
