Position: Dispatch Support

We are seeking a Dispatch Support / Scheduler Assistant to join a utility company's regulatory compliance and customer workload management team in Union, NJ.

Role Overview

The Scheduler Assistant will provide vital administrative support to ensure the company adheres to regulatory requirements and efficiently manages customer workload. This is a hybrid role requiring 1–3 days onsite per week at the SJI Green Lane office. The position is an initial 6‑month contract with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make outbound calls to customers and clearly communicate scheduling details
  • Handle EMERGENCY calls — remain calm, clear, and concise under pressure
  • Provide necessary instructions and reassurance to customers in emergency situations
  • Stay composed during emergencies while managing customer emotions
  • Quickly assess emergency situations, determine best course of action, and coordinate resolutions
  • Support team in ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient customer workload management
  • Provide general administrative scheduling support
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience handling EMERGENCY calls — non‑negotiable
  • Ability to make outbound calls and communicate scheduling details clearly
  • Ability to remain calm and concise while addressing urgent customer concerns under pressure
  • Strong problem‑solving skills — ability to assess situations and coordinate effective responses
  • Emotional composure — must manage personal stress while handling distressed customers
  • Located in or near Union, NJ — must report onsite 1–3 days per week
  • Availability for 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST shift, Monday through Friday
Nice to Have
  • Experience in utilities, energy, or gas company dispatch or scheduling
  • Background in 911 dispatch, crisis call centers, or emergency services
Schedule

Hybrid | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM EST | 40 hours/week

6‑month contract, extension possible. Expected start: ASAP
