Adjunct Faculty – Elementary EducationKean University in Union, New Jersey offers Adjunct faculty positions for upcoming semesters. These positions are non‑tenure track and are filled on an as‑needed basis.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate Elementary Education courses (e.g., Child Development, Content Areas, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Assessment, Family‑Teacher Partnerships, Professionalism); courses may include a clinical experience component requiring school visits.
- Provide at least 1 hour of office hours outside the classroom per week for each 3‑4 credit class taught (30 minutes for each additional class); adjuncts teaching fewer than 3 credits must provide at least 30 minutes of availability per week.
- Schedule office hours (in person or virtual) to meet student needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in a Learning Management System consistent with university guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field; candidates with ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorates are encouraged to apply.
- Teaching experience in elementary education; if otherwise indicated, experience may be substituted.
- Flexibility with morning and evening availability is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
- Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
- After 13 semesters: additional $75 per credit.
- Enroll in state‑administered retirement plan and Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program (when eligible).

- Employment requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
