Adjunct Faculty Positions

• Public Health – Teach courses in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Global Health, Introduction to Public Health, Principles of Public and Community Health, and Health and Social Justice (in‑person at Union or Kean Ocean campus).
• Recreation Administration (Sport and Event Management) – Teach courses in Sport and Event Management, Introduction to Sport and Event Management, Legal Aspects of Recreation, Financial Aspects of Recreation, Event Management, and Sport Promotion and Sponsorship (in‑person at Union or Kean Ocean campus).
• Exercise Science (BS) – Teach undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Motor Learning, Prescriptive Exercise, Exercise Testing and Interpretation, Strength & Fitness, Personal Fitness, Statistics in Exercise Science, Biomechanics, and Kinesiology (in‑person at Union or Kean Ocean campus). Preferred certification:
  Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP‑C, ACSM) or Personal Trainer (NCSF, ACSM, or NSCA).
• Exercise Science (MS) – Teach graduate‑level courses including Nutrition for Fitness, Health and Athletic Performance, Advanced Exercise Physiology, and Advanced Neuromuscular Physiology (in‑person at Union campus). Preferred certification:
  Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP‑C, ACSM) or Personal Trainer (NCSF, ACSM, or NSCA).
• Emergency Services – Teach courses such as Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI), Emergency Medical Responder, ECSI Advanced First Aid, American Heart Association (AHA) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider, and Introduction to Principles of Emergency Management.
  
  Required:
  
  EMS professional certification, instructor credentials for AHA/BLS, and experience teaching First Aid or EMS.
• Yoga and Mindfulness – Teach undergraduate courses in Yoga, Meditation, and Mindfulness (in‑person at Union and Ocean campus). Courses include Foundations of Yoga, Mindfulness and Wellbeing, Intro to Yoga, and Yoga Teaching Practicum. Preferred national yoga certification (RYT‑200 or RYT‑500) and significant teaching experience.

Teach assigned courses, prepare and deliver lecture materials, assess student performance, and provide at least one hour of availability per week per three‑ or four‑credit class. An 30‑minute availability is required for each additional class. Availability may be in person or virtual and should be scheduled to meet student needs. Adjuncts may provide additional office hours beyond the required amounts.

• Master’s degree in a related field; a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) is required for advanced‑level courses. ABD, Ed.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorates are encouraged.
• Teaching experience in higher education unless otherwise indicated.
• Proficiency with a Learning Management System.
• Specific certifications or credentials as noted for each subject area.

• Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
• Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
• Beginning with the 13th semester taught, an additional $75 per credit is awarded.
• Adjuncts are enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan and may qualify for the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
