Job Summary
Kean University is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in Professional Security Studies at the Jersey City campus. Positions are non‑tenure track and will be filled on an as‑needed basis.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and teach one, three, or four‑credit courses in areas such as Cybersecurity, National Security, Forensic Studies, Military Science, or Security Leadership.
- Prepare and deliver lecture materials, assignments, and assessments in accordance with university standards.
- Maintain an active learning management system (LMS) presence, providing required office hours: one hour per week for each taught class, with an additional 30 minutes per additional class.
- Offer supplemental office hours at discretion to support student learning.
- Coordinate with department staff on scheduling, grading, and course administration.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Security Studies, Criminal Justice, or related discipline). Candidates with an Ed.D., Ph.D., or other doctoral degree are encouraged.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education or a related setting.
- Proficiency in a learning management system required.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and student‑centered pedagogy skills.
- Ability to provide the required office hours and be flexible with teaching schedules.
- Pay rate: $2,100 per credit (September 2025) or $2,225 per credit (September 2026). Adjuncts in their 13th semester taught receive an additional $75 per credit.
- Eligibility for a state‑administered retirement plan and Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program (medical and prescription drug coverage).
- Accredited by E‑Verify; required to comply with New Jersey First Act residency requirements.
