Adjunct Faculty, Department of Biological Sciences

Position Overview

Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry at Kean University. Courses may include a laboratory component. An earned doctorate is required for doctoral‑level courses.

• Teach one, three, or four credit classes and provide additional class availability as required.
• Provide at least one hour of office hours per week for each credit taught (or at least 30 minutes for fewer than three credits).
• Make office hours available in person or virtually, scheduled by the instructor to meet student needs.
• Use the University’s Learning Management System in accordance with guidelines.
• May offer additional office hours beyond the required minimum.

• Master’s degree in a related field (or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or another acceptable disciplinary doctorate).
• Teaching experience in the relevant discipline, unless otherwise indicated.
• Proficiency in a Learning Management System.

• Paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement: $1,975 per credit (Effective September 2024), $2,100 per credit (Effective September 2025), $2,225 per credit (Effective September 2026).
• Starting with the 13th semester taught, an additional $75 per credit is awarded.
• Availability requirements: 1 hour per week per credit (or 30 minutes for fewer than three credits); additional hours optional.
