Job Summary

Kean University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach first‑year critical reading and academic study skills courses in person and day‑time at the Union campus. Teaching responsibilities include delivering course content, assessing student progress, and providing office hours as required.

Responsibilities
  • Teach one, three (3), or four (4) credit units per semester.
  • Provide at least one (1) hour of outside‑class availability per week for each semester taught.
  • Provide an additional 30 minutes of availability for each additional class.
  • Offer at least 30 minutes of availability per week for adjuncts teaching fewer than three (3) credits.
  • Schedule office hours in person or virtually to meet student needs.
  • Use the University’s Learning Management System consistently with University guidelines.
  • Attend required training and professional development activities as directed by the department.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field (or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctorate).
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a higher education setting, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
Benefits & Compensation
  • Pay rate: $2,100 per credit (effective September 2025) and $2,225 per credit (effective September 2026).
  • From the 13th semester taught, an additional $75 per credit is added.
  • Eligible retirement plan enrollment and Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
