Adjunct Faculty – Graduate Social Work
College of Health Professions and Human Services, Department of Graduate Social Work, Kean University – Union campus.
Position Overview
Teach graduate-level courses in Social Work, including Generalist Practice, Integrative Seminar, Human Behavior in a Social Environment, and Research Methods. Teaching format is primarily in-person; learning management system proficiency required.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver course content for assigned courses.
- Provide at least one hour of availability outside the classroom per week per course taught (three or four credits), additional thirty minutes per additional course; less than three credits requires at least thirty minutes per week.
- Schedule office hours in person or virtually to meet student needs.
- Use University Learning Management System for course materials and communications.
- Maintain instructional quality and adhere to university guidelines.
- Master’s degree in Social Work (or related field) required; ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctorate encouraged.
- Teaching experience in Graduate Social Work, unless otherwise indicated.
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Adjuncts teaching three or four credit courses must provide at least one hour weekly availability per course.
- Additional courses: thirty minutes per course.
- Adjuncts teaching fewer than three credits must provide at least thirty minutes of availability weekly.
- Optional additional office hours may be provided at discretion.
- Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
- Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
- After 13th semester taught, adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.
- Enrollment in state-administered retirement plan when eligible.
- Eligibility to enroll in Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
