Kean University invites applications for Adjunct Faculty positions in Theatre and Dance at the Union campus. Teaching responsibilities include Script Analysis, World Theatre I, and World Theatre II courses. All adjunct positions are non‑tenure track.
Responsibilities- Teach one three‑credit or one four‑credit course, or multiple courses, according to academic calendar.
- Provide at least one (1) hour of office‑hour availability outside the classroom per week for each three‑credit or four‑credit course taught.
- Provide an additional 30 minutes of availability for each additional class taught during the semester.
- Provide at least 30 minutes of office‑hour availability per week for adjuncts teaching fewer than three credits.
- Schedule office hours taking student availability into account; hours may be in person or virtual.
- Maintain proficiency in a Learning Management System in line with university guidelines.
- Fulfill all teaching, assessment, and attendancy obligations as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement.
- Master’s degree in Theatre, Dance, or a related field.
- Teaching experience in higher education is required; candidates holding an Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage course materials and student expectations.
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
- Pay is $2,100 per credit for fall and spring semesters beginning September 2025, increasing to $2,225 per credit in September 2026.
- Adjuncts in their 13th semester taught receive an additional $75 per credit.
- Eligible for state‑administered retirement plan and Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
Union (main campus); assignments may include other Kean University sites as operational needs dictate.
