Adjunct Faculty – General Education Math
Kean University is inviting applications for Adjunct Faculty positions to teach undergraduate general education math courses at the Union campus. Courses include Basic Algebra.
ResponsibilitiesEducate students in in‑person class settings, implementing student‑centered teaching methodologies such as small‑group instruction, flipped classroom design, cooperative, inquiry, and project‑based learning. Provide a minimum of the following availability outside class hours per semester:
- For a 3‑ or 4‑credit class: at least one (1) hour.
- For each additional class taught: an additional thirty (30) minutes.
- For teaching fewer than three (3) credits: at least thirty (30) minutes.
Office hours may be scheduled in person or virtually and are at the faculty member’s discretion beyond the minimum requirements.
QualificationsAll adjunct positions are non‑tenure track and require:
- A master’s degree in a related field (an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate is also encouraged).
- Teaching experience unless otherwise indicated.
- Proficiency in a learning management system consistent with university guidelines.
- Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
- Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
- After teaching a 13th semester: an additional $75 per credit.
Adjuncts are enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan when eligible and may be eligible to enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage (see university website for details).
Application Process- Submit a cover letter indicating availability for days, evenings or weekends and preferred campus location.
- Provide a résumé and contact information for three professional references.
- Official transcripts are required before appointment.
- Internal candidates should apply via Workday on the university’s internal career site.
Faculty duties may be performed at any of Kean’s New Jersey campuses, including Union, Toms River, Jefferson Township, Jersey City, Brookdale (Middletown), Manahawkin, Princeton, and Trenton. Online teaching for Kean Global is also possible.
