Adjunct Faculty – College of Liberal Arts, Department of Music
Kean University in Union, New Jersey invites applications for adjunct faculty positions of the Cello Studio, Violin Studio, and Music Specialist for upcoming semesters. Positions are filled on an as‑needed basis.
Positions & Responsibilities- Cello Studio – Teach private cello lessons in‑person and assist with Chamber Music and Orchestra. Schedule lessons with students;
Orchestra meets Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Requires cello pedagogy expertise, high‑school level recruitment experience; active performance career and community engagement preferred. - Violin Studio – Teach private violin lessons in‑person and assist with Chamber Music and Orchestra. Schedule lessons with students;
Orchestra meets Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Requires violin pedagogy expertise, high‑school level recruitment experience; active performance career and community engagement preferred. - Music Specialist – Teach classes, lessons, or ensembles in music theory, sight‑singing & ear training, music history, private studio lessons, general‑education music survey, small ensembles. Requires higher‑education teaching experience and an active performance or related professional music career.
• Master’s degree in a related field and teaching experience required. ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctorate encouraged.
• Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required.
Adjuncts teaching one, three, or four credit classes must provide at least one hour of availability per week outside the classroom per semester/session. Additional thirty minutes per extra class is required. Adjuncts teaching fewer than three credits provide at least thirty minutes of availability per week. Office hours may be in‑person or virtual as scheduled by the faculty member.
CompensationEffective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
After the 13th semester taught: additional $75 per credit.
