Adjunct Faculty – Computer Science

Teaching undergraduate level courses in‑person at the Union or Jersey City campus. Courses may include Information Technology Foundations, Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Systems, Analysis of Algorithms, Computer Architecture, Web Programming, Java, Python, and other related topics.

Prerequisite experience:
Prior teaching experience preferred. Candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged. A Master’s degree in a related field and teaching experience (unless otherwise indicated) are required. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required.

Adjunct faculty teaching one, two, three, or four credit classes shall provide the following course‑associated availability:

• One to four credit class: at least one hour of availability outside the classroom per week per semester/session.
• Additional class: an extra thirty minutes of availability for each additional class taught.
• Fewer than three credits: at least thirty minutes of availability outside the classroom per week per semester/session.
• May provide additional office hours beyond the required amounts at discretion.

Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit. Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit. Beginning in the 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.

Eligible for a state‑administered retirement plan when eligible and for the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage. All other benefits are provided in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Teaching assignments may be at any of Kean University’s New Jersey campus locations, including Union, Toms River (Kean Ocean), Jefferson Township (Kean Skylands), Jersey City, or the Part‑Time Remote (Kean Global) option.
