We invite qualified candidates to serve as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of History. Positions are filled on an as‑needed basis across the university’s campuses.
Responsibilities- Teach one‑, three‑, or four‑credit introductory or advanced‑level History courses in person at Union, Kean Ocean, or Jersey City campuses.
- Provide at least one hour of availability outside the classroom per week for each class taught; an additional 30 minutes per added class.
- When teaching fewer than three credits, provide at least 30 minutes of availability per week.
- Schedule availability in person or virtually to accommodate student needs.
- Maintain proficiency in the university Learning Management System per guidelines.
- Submit official transcripts before appointment.
- Master’s degree in a related field, or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or another acceptable doctoral degree.
- Teaching experience unless otherwise indicated.
- Proficiency in an LMS.
- Willingness to commit to required availability hours.
- Ability to work at any of the university’s New Jersey campuses or affiliated work sites.
Pay is $2,100 per credit effective September 2025 and $2,225 per credit effective September 2026. From the 13th semester taught, an additional $75 per credit is awarded. Adjuncts are enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan when eligible and may enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
Work LocationRequired to work at any of the university’s teaching sites:
Union, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands, Jersey City, Brookdale, Manahawkin, Princeton, or Trenton. Online teaching for Kean Global is also possible.
