Adjunct Faculty – Architecture

Keen to invite applicants for upcoming semesters to teach courses in the Architecture field at Kean University’s Union campus. The role involves teaching architectural design studio and lecture courses in history, theory, representation, or technology.

• Teach assigned courses in architecture, including studio and lecture formats.
• Maintain and update course content in the Learning Management System in line with university guidelines.
• Provide the required office hours: at least 1 hour of availability per week for a three or four credit class; an additional 30 minutes for each additional class taught; or 30 minutes for courses of fewer than three credits. Availability may be in person or virtual and should be scheduled to meet student needs. Adjuncts may offer additional office hours at their discretion.

• Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field. Candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply.
• Teaching experience in architectural design studio and/or lecture courses.
• Proficiency in using a Learning Management System.

Pay rates: $2,100 per credit (effective September 2025) and $2,225 per credit (effective September 2026). Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit after teaching their 13th semester.

Adjuncts are enrolled in a state-administered retirement plan when eligible and may be eligible to enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.

Work at any of Kean University’s New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include:
Union, Toms River, Jefferson Township, Jersey City, Brookdale, Manahawkin, Princeton, and Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
