Adjunct Faculty – College of Liberal Arts, Department of Communication, Media and Journalism

We invite qualified adjunct faculty for upcoming semesters. Positions are filled on an as‑needed basis. Qualified candidates may be contacted when an opening becomes available.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Communication courses such as Speech Communication, Business and Professional Communication at the Union and Jersey City campuses.
  • Provide additional courses as needed, including Social Media, Digital Storytelling, Communication Theory, sound production, cinema studies, film/media history, video production, and digital media production, depending on expertise and campus location.
  • Maintain at least 1 hour of availability outside the classroom per week for each 3‑ or 4‑credit class taught; an additional 30 minutes for each additional class.
  • For classes fewer than 3 credits, provide at least 30 minutes of availability per week.
  • Availability may be in person or virtual and should be scheduled to meet student needs; office hours beyond the required availability are encouraged.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field (or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctorate).
  • Teaching experience unless otherwise indicated.
  • Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
  • Ability to meet availability requirements as described above.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
  • Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
  • From the 13th semester taught, an additional $75 per credit is awarded.
  • Eligible to enroll in the state‑administered retirement plan and the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
