Position: Adjunct Faculty, Department of Bilingual, TESOL and World Languages

Adjunct Faculty – Bilingual & TESOL / World Languages

Kean University is inviting adjunct faculty to teach graduate-level Bilingual and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL) courses and undergraduate-level World Languages courses at our Union or Jersey City campuses.

Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate-level Bilingual & TESOL courses one three (3) or four (4) credit class per semester, scheduled once a week for three (3) hours.
  • Teach undergraduate-level World Languages courses, scheduled once a week for three (3) hours.
  • Provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for each class taught, and an additional 30 minutes per additional class.
  • Offer a minimum of 30 minutes of availability outside the classroom per week for each class if teaching fewer than three (3) credits.
  • Maintain coursework and instructional materials on the university’s Learning Management System.
  • Respond to student inquiries, conduct grading, and uphold course standards.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field (or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate).
  • Teaching experience at the college level, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Proficiency with a Learning Management System, consistent with university guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Benefits and Compensation
  • Pay rate: $2,100 per credit for the 2025–2026 academic year; $2,225 per credit for 2026–2027 and onward.
  • Additional $75 per credit after the 13th semester taught.
  • Enrollment in the state-administered retirement plan (when eligible).
  • Eligibility to enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
