Job Overview
We are excited to invite Adjunct Faculty applications for upcoming semesters at Kean University. Adjunct faculty positions are filled on an as‑needed basis. Qualified candidates may be contacted if and when an opening becomes available.
Teaching Responsibilities- Teach communication courses such as Speech Communication, Business and Professional Communication, Social Media, Digital Storytelling, Communication Theory, sound production, cinema studies, film/media history, video production, and digital media production at Union and Jersey City campuses (additional courses may be available at the Union campus).
- Provide the required availability: for a 3‑ or 4‑credit class, at least 1 hour outside of classroom per week; an additional 30 minutes for each additional class; for fewer than 3 credits, at least 30 minutes per week. Availability may be in person or virtual and must be scheduled by the adjunct taking student needs into account.
Teaching assignments may occur at any of Kean’s New Jersey campus locations (Union, Toms River, Jefferson Township, Jersey City, Brookdale, Manahawkin, Princeton, Trenton) or online for Kean Global.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in a related field (ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate encouraged).
- Teaching experience unless otherwise indicated.
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System consistent with University guidelines.
- Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
- Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
- After 13 semesters taught: additional $75 per credit.
- Enrollment in a state‑administered retirement plan (when eligible).
- Possibility of enrolling in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
