Adjunct Faculty – Africana Studies, Human Rights & Women’s & Gender Studies
Kean University invites adjunct faculty to teach in the Departments of Africana Studies, Human Rights, and Women’s & Gender Studies at the Union campus and Kean Ocean campus in Toms River. Undergraduate courses may be taught in person; online instruction is also possible for Kean Global.

Interdisciplinary Black Studies, Afrocentric Research Methods, Film and the African Experience, Introduction to Africana Studies, Race and Racism in the USA. - Human Rights
:
Introductory interdisciplinary courses in human rights, migration, justice, and activism. - Women’s & Gender Studies
:
Interdisciplinary women’s and gender studies courses.
- Teach undergraduate courses as assigned.
- Maintain at least one (1) hour of office hours per semester per course; provide an additional 30 minutes for each extra course taught.
- Availability may be in person or virtual and must accommodate student needs.
- Attend required faculty meetings and professional development sessions as directed.
- Master’s degree in a related field or higher; ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree is welcome.
- Prior teaching experience with a student‑centered approach; for undergraduate instruction.
- Proficiency with a Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) in accordance with university guidelines.
- Valid state teaching credentials are preferred but not mandatory.
- Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
- Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
- From the 13th semester taught: additional $75 per credit.
- Enrollment in the state‑administered retirement plan (when eligible).
- Eligibility for the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
Submit a cover letter (indicating days, evenings, or weekends availability and preferred campus), résumé, and contact information for three professional references. Official transcripts must be provided before appointment.
Internal Kean University employees (including part‑time student assistants, graduate assistants, academic specialists, and adjuncts) should apply via the internal career site using their Workday account.
Employment & ComplianceAssignments may be at any Kean campus (Union, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands, Kean Jersey City, Brookdale, Manahawkin, Princeton, Trenton) or online (Kean Global).
