Adjunct Faculty – Teaching Opportunities

Kean University invites applications for Adjunct Faculty for the upcoming semesters. Adjunct positions are non‑tenure track and are filled on an as‑needed basis. Candidates may be contacted when an opening becomes available.

Teaching Opportunities
  • Transition to Kean – in‑person course at the Union or Jersey City campus. Designed to assist new students with transition to college and foundational skills.
  • Transfer Transition – in‑person course at the Union, Jersey City, Kean Ocean, or Brookdale campus. Focuses on writing, academic planning, information literacy, and research, including special international sections for students with an ESL background.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field or ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or another acceptable doctorate.
  • Teaching experience, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Proficiency in a Learning Management System, consistent with University guidelines.
  • Availability during daytime hours preferred; availability may be in person or virtual.
Availability and Office Hours

Adjuncts teaching one, three (3), or four (4) credit classes must provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for each semester session taught. An additional thirty (30) minutes per week is required for each additional class. Faculty may provide additional office hours beyond the minimum.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
  • Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
  • From the 13th semester taught: additional $75 per credit.
  • Enrollment in a state‑administered retirement plan, when eligible.
  • Eligibility to enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.

Submit a cover letter indicating availability for days, evenings, or weekends and preferred campus location, a resume, and contact information for three professional references. Official transcripts are required before appointment. For current Kean employees, apply through the internal career site via Workday.
