Key Job Responsibilities
- Waste characterization: Characterize waste, including proper storage, separation, packaging, labeling, and preparation for collection in accordance with European and local waste regulations.
- Environmental inspections: Conduct thorough and accurate environmental inspections to support continuous improvement. This includes inspections of waste collection points, spill response kits, areas for products under review, waste management tools, and related areas.
- Monthly waste analysis: Support the site in preparing monthly waste analyses to track progress on waste volumes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Incident monitoring: Monitor environmental incidents at the site and participate in investigations. Work closely with the local Environmental Manager to conduct thorough and accurate investigations.
- Waste storage maintenance: Physically maintain and manage the waste storage area and all associated safety equipment, including eyewash stations, emergency kits, fire extinguishers, and related items.
- Waste collection coordination: Manage all waste collections and act as the main contact person for the waste disposal company. Responsibilities include sending collection logs, planning and coordinating pickups, tracking documents for each waste shipment, and maintaining records of waste transport documentation.
- Trend and cost analysis: Research trends, inventory losses, and cost-reduction measures where applicable.
In this position, you will coordinate collaboration between the Operations, Facilities & Engineering, and Environmental Health and Safety teams.
Your responsibilities will include coordinating the internal disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, carrying out the donation process, coordinating and optimizing collections by external waste disposal providers, managing internal pallet disposal, handling special assignments and projects, and supporting the technical department.
You will be trained on and become familiar with applicable regulations in order to provide technical support to the site for waste disposal and to ensure the local implementation of Amazon’s Global Environmental Assurance and Protection programs.

Basic Qualifications- German language skills: Advanced written and spoken German skills.
- MS Office experience: Experience using the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Technical understanding: Technical understanding of the waste management process.
- Environmental regulations: Experience with environmental regulations.
- English language skills: Advanced written and spoken English skills.
- Relevant work experience: Experience in logistics, operations, warehouse, or customer-facing environments.
- Attention to detail: Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and careful working style.
