Sr. Systems Administrator – Union, New Jersey

Trans Core (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full‑time Sr. Systems Administrator to join our team in the Union, New Jersey area.

Job Summary

The Senior Systems Administrator provides remote and on‑site technical support assistance for IT facilities and end users, follows up on all open/unresolved tickets, and troubleshoots client problems. Responsibilities include resolving hardware and software issues using practical knowledge of operating systems, application programs, and network topology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to technical assistance requests in person, by phone, or remotely.
  • Support IT equipment installations and perform field work as needed.
  • Log, prioritize, and track user requests to resolution.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and correct them per documentation or technician guidance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network, server, workstation, and software problems.
  • Install new IT equipment and service existing equipment.
  • Set up and onboard computers for clients on Active Directory domains.
  • Support staff requests for installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripherals, and software.
  • Work with vendor support contacts to resolve issues with desktop computing equipment and software.
  • Maintain desktop inventory, including location of hardware that may contain Protected Health Information.
  • Facilitate and record transfer or movement of hardware that may or may not contain Protected Health Information.
  • Maintain in‑stock inventory and purchase required equipment.
  • Create, maintain, and educate end‑users about a self‑help knowledge base to minimize helpdesk calls.
  • Participate in in‑service/education regarding Quality Improvement.
  • Support physical and logical network topology and infrastructure required to run Infinity, Integrity, and Congestion Pricing applications, including physical & virtual servers, Windows Server operating systems, network communication, switches, routers, firewalls, Microsoft Windows, Dell EMC SANs, Hyper‑V, VMware, phone and IVR systems.
  • Work in the office a few days per week.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years in the IT industry.
  • 10+ years installing, configuring, and supporting servers (Dell & Cisco), Microsoft Windows Server, Cisco networking components, hypervisors/virtual machines, phone & IVR systems.
  • 10+ years managing physical and logical network topology and infrastructure for mission‑critical applications.
  • 10+ years working with external vendors on network communications, data center co‑location, phone & IVR systems, SANs.
  • 10+ years experience in cybersecurity processes, penetration testing, and vulnerability detection tools such as Qualys and Tenable.
  • 10+ years managing Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, Hyper‑V, and Microsoft Exchange.
  • 3+ years managing cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time, possibly staying away from home up to a week.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience with VMware vSphere administration.
  • Experience with Dell EMC storage.
  • Experience with Veeam Backup.
  • Experience with Manage Engine Desktop Central.
  • Experience with endpoint protection such as Crowd Strike or Symantec.
  • Familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud Platform is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with Azure services (Compute, Networking, Storage, Identity, Security).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (VNets, VPNs, DNS, Load Balancers).
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an associate degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field plus an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Desired Certification Skills
  • Microsoft certifications.
  • Cloud (Azure, AWS, or Google) certifications.
  • VMware certifications.
  • Networking certifications (A+, CCNA, or CISSP).
Salary Range

$125,000 – $143,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
