Director, Schools MinistryScripture Union NSW is seeking a gifted and passionate Christian leader to shape the future of our Schools Ministry across NSW. This senior role provides strategic, operational, and pastoral leadership for our lunchtime Christian groups (ISCF and SUPA Clubs) in NSW state primary and high schools, helping us grow our reach and impact in line with our 2029 strategic plan.
We’re looking for someone who can combine ministry leadership and strategic partnership‑building with a deep commitment to child safety and the gospel.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and grow SU NSW’s Schools Ministry, developing annual plans, KPIs, and long‑term strategy.
- Build strong relationships with major donors, churches, foundations, and ministry partners to grow philanthropic support.
- Provide pastoral and spiritual leadership to staff and volunteers, fostering a Christ‑centred, prayerful ministry culture.
- Recruit, develop, and support Schools Ministry staff and volunteers, ensuring high standards of training, wellbeing, and performance.
- Champion a strong culture of child safety, ensuring all ministry activities comply with safeguarding, legislative, and school‑system requirements.
- Represent SU NSW in key networks, forums, and advocacy contexts relating to Christian ministry in NSW state schools.
You are a mature Christian with demonstrated ministry leadership experience and a heart for seeing children and young people encounter Jesus in schools. You bring strong relational skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and equip teams. You’re confident engaging donors and partners, and you understand the importance of safety, compliance, and organisational excellence.
Essential Experience & Attributes- Significant leadership experience in Christian ministry (schools, youth, church, or community).
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop staff and volunteers, and build healthy ministry culture.
- Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or partnership development.
- Strong understanding of child safety, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- Alignment with SU NSW’s Aims, Beliefs and Working Principles.
- Experience in the NSW education sector or school‑based ministry.
- Theological training or relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Experience in major gift fundraising or donor stewardship.
