City Information Community Information:
The City of Enumclaw is approximately 45 minutes southeast of Seattle Washington in King County, with a current population of about 11,600 residents. The city sits on the Enumclaw Plateau, nestled in the midst of green fields and picturesque dairy farms. The Cascade Mountains along with Mt. Rainier offer a dramatic backdrop for our community. Enumclaw is an outdoor enthusiasts dream and is known as “The Gateway to Mt.
Rainier” with easy access to world class skiing, hiking, climbing, hunting and fishing.
Police Department Information:
Enumclaw currently has 36 full time police department employees with 19 commissioned officers. The city also has its own jail with a staff of 7 corrections officers and a communications / 911 center with a staff of 7 communications specialists.

$17.40 to $22.71 per hour
Nature of Work
This is a temporary employee
* position reporting to the Swimming Pool Manager. Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision and safety of the public at an aquatic facility. Primary duties include educating the public to promote habits and attitudes that lead to safe recreation, enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies in an appropriate manner.
Individuals must be able to work as part of an overall staff team and independently, without direct supervision. Employees need to be responsible, trustworthy, able to deal appropriately with the public and difficult situations. Lifeguards may be required to work special events, evenings, weekends, and split shifts at the Enumclaw Pool. The employee is subject to one or more written evaluations annually.
Employees must be willing to work evenings and weekends as assigned. A background check is a condition of employment.
Job Responsibilities
• Prevent accidents and injuries.
• Respond to all emergency situations.
• Enforce rules and policies of the City of Enumclaw.
• Educate the public in the rules and policies of the City of Enumclaw.
• Work with other City employees to provide safe conditions for the public.
• Report any unsafe situations or conditions.
• Report any damage, incidents or injuries using appropriate forms.
• Complete reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Adhere to blood borne pathogen training and safety standards.
• Attend scheduled staff training.
• Wear the designated uniform as stated in the staff manual.
• Provide a high level of customer service for the patrons and staff.
• Instructor, Cashier or Pool Attendant duties when trained and certified.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Possess and maintain American Red Cross certification in Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and communicate effectively with the public and co-workers.
• Possess knowledge of aquatic programs and safety procedures.
• Must be at least 15 years of age.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to respond to emergency situations.
• Maintain a minimum of 20/40 vision. Use of corrective lenses is acceptable.
• Able to perform duties involving physical labor, such as bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, and twisting.
• Ability to perform strenuous activity.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
Salary:
• $13.69 per hour starting salary.
Hours and Site Locations:
• As scheduled by supervisor.
• Location is the Enumclaw swimming pool.
* Temporary employee is non-benefited and limited to less than 1040 hours per calendar year.
