The Transportation department is looking for a Part-Time Handi-Van Driver.

Under the direction of the Director of Community Services, the Part-Time Handi-Van driver would provide transportation services to the people supported through the Community Services. The successful applicant would ensure that passengers have a safe and enjoyable experience while being transported.

Qualifications
  • A grade 12 secondary school diploma and /or related education or experience acceptable to the Employer.
  • Must possess a Class F driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Experience in transporting seniors, considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work in a Health Care setting.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively, independently, within a team, with frontline personnel and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced health care environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record.
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.
Basic Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Community Services, is responsible for the safe transportation of community people with a disability within Fort Frances.

Specific Duties
  • Responsible for community people with a physical disability for transportation to and from appointment as required by departments of the home.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean vehicle for operation.
  • Required to do daily circle check of vehicle and maintain daily safety log.
  • Required to maintain a mileage log.
  • Reports all vehicle discrepancies to Director of Community Services.
  • Follow all rules and regulation pertaining to Drivers of Transportation Services.
  • Deals tactfully and courteously with riders, visitors, staff, and the general public.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Attends staff development programs and meeting as authorized by Director of Community Services.
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Carries out work assignments safely and is knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (ex. Occupational Health and Safety Act).
  • Current Assignment
    • The position will be Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 16:00.
    • The start date for this position will be ASAP.
