Hours:

37.5 per week

The University of South Carolina Union invites applications for a 9-month, full‑time Instructor of Biology. Teaching will include face‑to‑face and distance education, with possible evening or weekend classes. The role includes instructing six courses per semester (including labs as individual courses) and teaching introductory biology and any upper‑level courses as needed. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and community service is expected.

• Teach assigned courses and labs, assessing student learning outcomes.
• Advising students and maintaining up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
• Engage in professional development and utilize current technology.
• Maintain professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position.
• Serve on college committees and participate in faculty governance and student co‑curricular activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in Biology or a related field with 18 graduate hours in Biology from an accredited university.
• Credentials for departmental approval to teach introductory and upper‑level courses.
• Demonstrated dedication to exceptional teaching and engagement with campus and local community.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to undergraduate education.
