The Career Navigator and Testing Coordinator provides comprehensive student support services for Union County Adult Education by coordinating student intake and orientation, administering required assessments, supporting appropriate student placement, providing career and educational guidance, maintaining accurate student records, and connecting students with educational, career, and community resources.
The position is responsible for ensuring that required assessments are administered in accordance with applicable assessment policies and procedures while also assisting students in identifying and pursuing appropriate academic, career, college, and employment goals. The Career Navigator and Testing Coordinator serves as an important link between students, instructors, adult education staff, colleges, employers, and community agencies.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- At least one year of successful experience in career counseling, employment placement, college placement, or student services.
- Excellent computer skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of college or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete all required assessment policy and program training.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, community agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the implementation of student orientation and intake sessions.
- Monitor intake paperwork to ensure all required documents are completed accurately and correctly.
- Assist with the orientation process for newly enrolled students.
- Discuss student placement with newly enrolled students based on assessment results and program requirements.
- Obtain information necessary to effectively counsel students regarding their desired career or academic goals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all students.
- Ensure student attendance hours are properly logged, except when students are participating in TABE post-testing or GED testing.
- Administers required assessments at scheduled times, including TABE Pre-Test, TABE Post-Test, WIN, and GED assessments.
- Complete all required assessment policy training.
- Follow the South Carolina Assessment Policy Manual and comply with all applicable assessment conditions and requirements.
- Ensure testing procedures are conducted accurately and consistently.
- Properly secure, handle, and dispose of testing materials in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Properly dispose of all scratch paper and TABE testing tickets following testing procedures.
- Distribute assessment results to appropriate instructors, the LACES Clerk, Career and College Navigator (CCN), and Director.
- Assist with the use of assessment results in determining appropriate student placement and identifying student needs.
- Administer career and educational surveys to students.
- Provide guidance to students in identifying career, educational, and postsecondary goals.
- Assist students who need support completing college applications.
- Assist students with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Provide students with information and resources related to educational and career opportunities.
- Assist students in identifying appropriate pathways for achieving their academic or career goals.
- Conduct follow-up surveys with students who earn their high school credential.
- Assist instructors with reaching out to students who have left the program in an effort to encourage continued participation or completion.
- Complete required student and program reports accurately and within established timelines.
- Maintain accurate and current student records and documentation.
- Communicate assessment information and student placement information to appropriate Adult Education personnel.
- Create a monthly newsletter for students containing relevant program, educational, career, and/or community information.
