Job Summary
The main responsibility of the Accounting Specialist will be to work primarily with high net worth individuals within our Private Wealth Tax Practice and is expected to be able to manage their time and priorities in order to meet deadlines with a high level of quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Responsibilities- Provide best‑in‑class service to our clients through communications, information gathering, onboarding and delivery.
- Communicate with team, clients and third‑party client advisors.
- Work with clients to help them navigate various client platforms.
- Support team where needed in accomplishing client deliverables.
- Proactively communicate status of work, ask timely questions and seek clarity from the lead on client engagements when needed to keep work progress.
- Meet client service expectations through adherence to quality and timely client deliverables.
- Build and maintain positive team and client relationships and facilitate proactive communications.
- Assist with client data gathering by reviewing client data and information needed.
- Promptly communicate roadblocks and inefficiencies as they arise.
- Apply learning from one client engagement to the next.
- Stay current with updates and improvements on applicable technology platforms and obtain certifications as directed by your manager.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree may be accepted.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Strong desire to provide exceptional client service, a professional demeanor, and the ability to handle matters confidentially.
- Strong sense of accuracy and attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to follow directions and procedures.
- Strong organization and time‑management skills, with the ability to work effectively with a sense of urgency in a deadline‑driven environment serving multiple clients.
- Demonstrated skills in time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving.
- Strong adaptability and multi‑tasking skills.
- Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.
- Ability to learn from experiences and integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work and share with colleagues as appropriate.
- Desire to work independently with clients.
- Ability to work limited overtime as needed.
- Knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping and payroll principles related to classifying, recording, summarizing data and making computations to compile and keep financial records.
- Experience in Quick Books preferred.
- Experience and knowledge working within MS Office Suite.
The pay range for this position varies by location:
- Uniondale, NY: $24.00 to $37.75 per hour.
- New York, NY: $30.00 to $39.50 per hour.
Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including skills, experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
