Duties and Responsibilities/Results Portfolio Management & Credit Risk Oversight
  • Manage and monitor the performance, quality, and risk profile of the Bank’s commercial and residential real estate loan portfolio.
  • Conduct ongoing portfolio reviews, credit analyses, covenant monitoring, and risk assessments to identify emerging risks and ensure timely resolution of exceptions.
  • Analyze borrower financial statements, property performance, market conditions, and third-party information to evaluate credit quality and portfolio trends.
  • Ensure timely completion of loan renewals, modifications, annual reviews, and other portfolio monitoring requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of credit recommendations and portfolio analyses for Credit Committee and Senior Management.
Problem Loan Management & Workout Administration
  • Lead the review, analysis, and management of criticized and classified assets, including commercial real estate loan workouts, restructurings, modifications, and loss mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and recommend resolution strategies for problem loans, balancing risk mitigation, asset preservation, and relationship management objectives.
  • Monitor workout plans and borrower performance to ensure timely execution and resolution.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel, compliance, loan operations, and other internal stakeholders regarding loan modifications, restructurings, and enforcement actions.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Direct, coach, mentor, and develop Portfolio Management staff to ensure high levels of performance, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, identify training opportunities, and address performance issues when necessary.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and sound credit administration.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to staff regarding portfolio management, credit analysis, and problem loan resolution.
Reporting, Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for departmental readiness for internal audits, external audits, regulatory examinations, external loan reviews, and compliance assessments.
  • Direct and oversee the preparation, coordination, and delivery of all audit and examination requests, ensuring responses are accurate, complete, timely, and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Serve as the primary departmental liaison for internal auditors, external auditors, regulators, loan review firms, and other independent reviewers.
  • Review audit findings, examination reports, loan review observations, and regulatory recommendations and develop appropriate corrective action plans.
  • Monitor and report on the status of audit findings, management responses, remediation activities, and corrective action plans to ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure portfolio management records, loan files, risk-rating documentation, exception tracking, and departmental reporting are maintained in a manner that supports regulatory compliance and examination readiness.
  • Coordinate periodic portfolio reviews, stress testing exercises, and independent loan review engagements and ensure resulting recommendations are appropriately addressed.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, accountability, risk awareness, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable banking regulations, accounting guidance, credit administration standards, and industry best practices affecting portfolio management activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, portfolio management, loan review, credit administration, workout management, or related banking functions.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and residential real estate lending, credit risk management, loan documentation, and portfolio administration.
