Registered Nurse - Med Surg (12-Hour Nights)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Med Surg units for a rewarding opportunity on a 12-hour night shift schedule. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced acute care setting, specifically focusing on surgical and medical-surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in compliance with established protocols and standards
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, document findings, and report changes as necessary
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Support patients and families by providing education and emotional support
• Participate in ongoing professional development and education

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS Certification is the only required certification
• Experience in Med Surg nursing preferred
• Ability to work in a challenging environment with varied patient needs

Schedule

This position requires 12-hour night shifts, including weekends as scheduled. Nurses are expected to work every other weekend and to include two Fridays in their schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Mainly Med Surg, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end of life, chemo (volume for inpatient chemo is fairly low).
Unit Description
MEDSURG UNITS
Unit1W Med Surg: (Cost Center 3427)
2E Med Surg: (Cost Center 3424) # beds
1W Med Surg = 28-Beds (all private)
2E Med Surg = 29-Beds (all private)

NOTE:

2E Med Surg includes 2N & 2S but they refer to entire area of 2E as all one big unit Certs BLS is the only required certification
Ratios1:6-7 Charge Nurse/House Supervisor
They have a Clinical Manager Mon-Sat who acts as both charge nurse & nurse manager. They don't take patients unless the census is greater than 24 then they will take patients.
Nights has a resource nurse who takes a full patient assignment.

Nurse Aides:
Both 1W & 2E will each have 2 CNA's on Days but no CNA's on nights

Nurse's Read Strips? No Drips Heparin & possibly MSO4 for comfort measures, but no cardiac gtts Vents Bipap, Cpap, High Flow - all managed per RT

Tele They can have patients on remote tele but there are no monitors on this unit. Tele patients are monitored remotely by the monitor tech on the 3rd floor
