Role OverviewThe Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, reporting to the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and, for medical issues, managing the Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results, and providing EHS support.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of the Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when unacceptable findings arise or when medical or technical guidance is required.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance for employee incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current state license or certification for EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State requirements for basic IV therapy fulfillment.
- Completion of FDA‑approved Bio Life Medical Support Specialist training.
- Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 – $33.44. The actual hourly wage offered may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, well‑being benefits, sick time (up to 80 hours annually), and paid vacation (up to 120 hours for new hires).
