The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for an Aerospace Ground Equipment Supervisor (WS‑5378‑12) to join the team at the 12th Maintenance Group, Joint Base San Antonio‑Randolph, Universal City, Texas. In this role, you would serve as the Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Flight Chief and exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing Powered and Non‑Powered AGE (NPA) equipment to support both aircraft and non‑aircraft weapon systems.

Hourly Wage Range: $44.19 – $51.55

Qualifications
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • This is a drug testing position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle up to and including a 2‑1/2 ton truck and tow ground equipment in and out of the repair facility and to and from the flightline sub‑pools. An appropriate valid driver’s license would be required.
  • Required to qualify for a restricted area badge and in certain situations, may be required to support aircraft as a flight line driver.
  • This is a very physical role and the employee must be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift and carry items that way about 50 pounds with mechanical lifting devices or with assistance from other workers.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of subordinate personnel and other resources under your control. Determines resource requirements, materials, and the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long‑range work schedules.
  • Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
  • Performs Red X inspections certification duties. Monitors Red X requirements. Performs inspections on essential procedures to assure correct maintenance actions are completed in a timely manner with no discrepancies allowed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on ground power and non‑powered support systems. Checks equipment for fuel, lubricants, coolant, and battery water levels. Checks pumps, batteries, fan belts, and spark plugs for wear and tear or replacement. Checks engine performance, generator bearings, and oil and/or temperature indicators on a regular and recurring basis.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Maintains and controls tools as established by the Air Force and the organization.
  • Knowledge of powered and non‑powered aerospace ground support equipment to include principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid‑state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered and non‑powered support systems.
  • Knowledge of aircraft wheel & tire inspection, disassembly and reassembly procedures and practices for the T‑1, T‑7, T‑38 and/or commercial equivalent aircraft.
  • Knowledge of, and ability and skill in applying, regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation; reading, interpreting, and using wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides.
  • Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel, gasoline engines, and gas turbine engines.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and use wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides.
