The Department of Physics & Engineering at John Carroll University (JCU) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Engineering starting in the Fall of 2026, in the area of engineering.
Review of applications will begin on February 6, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.
JCU cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.
The Department offers multi-track Engineering Physics and Physics bachelor's degree programs, and is home to a growing undergraduate population. JCU is currently under review for ABET accreditation for its Engineering Physics program. Faculty research areas include applied mechanics, materials for green energy, and atomic & molecular physics.

Duties and Responsibilities
Visiting Assistant Professors teach a 4-4 course load contributing to our engineering curriculum. Visiting Assistant Professors also engage in service work, primarily in the department, such as advising, attending meetings and events, and engaging with students. Faculty scholarship is not required but will be supported if the candidate wishes to mentor undergraduate research students. Teaching responsibilities will involve foundational and advanced engineering courses.

Required Qualifications
* A PhD at the time of hire in an engineering field (all specialties will be considered).
* The successful candidate will have a commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment.
* An ability to teach a range of engineering course topics.
Preferred Qualifications
* An ability to contribute to design-focused courses such as Senior Design Capstone Projects.
* Prior teaching experience and/or prior industry experience.
* An ability to forge connections to industry partners for student projects and internships.
* Knowledge of ABET accreditation standards and processes.
