Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D., or its equivalent, in Catholic theology or Catholic moral theology in hand by August 2027.
- Demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching Catholic theology or Catholic moral theology at the undergraduate level.
- Experience engaging the Catholic Intellectual tradition and ability to contribute courses to the Institute of Catholic Studies’ minor in Catholic Studies.
- Experience teaching a wide range of courses in Catholic theology and/or Catholic moral theology.
- Experience with high-impact pedagogies such as technology- enhanced learning, service and community-based learning, and undergraduate research.
- Expertise at the intersection of theology, social ethics, and culture; and sensitivity to the global, ecumenical, and contextually diverse nature of theology today.
- Demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching Catholic theology or Catholic moral theology at the graduate level.
- Evidence of scholarship that supports teaching excellence in theology.
- Teaching is the primary responsibility of visiting faculty. Visiting faculty teach four sections each semester (Fall/Spring), in some combination of introductory- and upper-level undergraduate core, major/minor, and master’s-level courses in Catholic theology and/or Catholic moral theology.
- In addition to teaching, visiting faculty are expected to be engaged members of the university community and contribute to shared governance via the work of the department, college, and university.
- Examples of service include: participate in regular meetings of the faculty; engage in academic innovation, curricular revision, and assessment; service on a faculty, department, college, or university committees; advise students or student organizations; and engage in university ministry or other activities related to the mission of the university.
- Visiting faculty are not required to engage in scholarly activity as part of their standard workload. However, in support of the professional development of visiting faculty, a small, clearly-defined part of their workload may be dedicated to scholarship.
