JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Sustainability team in the Office of Physical Plant is seeking a part‑time Sustainability Program Coordinator. The role supports the Sustainable Lab and Tailgate Ambassador programs by coordinating program details, training student workers and volunteers, and communicating with team members. The coordinator also supports broader sustainability goals of the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate incentive programs and events across sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure social media materials are created and shared for both programs.
- Support the creation of marketing and communications materials.
- Support a team of staff and student workers to plan, execute, and assess recycling efforts at athletics events.
- Plan, organize, and lead game day operations (schedules, refreshments, materials, etc.).
- Coordinate communication, training, and time tracking for Tailgate Ambassadors.
- Deliver and facilitate friendly, helpful, and positive fan engagement.
- Support the development and coordination of educational programs and events for Sustainable Lab participants.
- Assist with outreach and recruitment of new labs, with a focus on spring onboarding.
- Facilitate supplemental initiatives such as the International Freezer Challenge and related campaigns.
- Provide ongoing support to participating labs, including troubleshooting and participant communication.
- Track participation, progress, and certification milestones, and support program reporting.
- Provide routine program logistics/maintenance requirements or activities to ensure quality of programs.
- Support preparation of program agreements, grant writing initiatives, budgets, and related information.
- Coordinate and distribute program evaluations, communicate with participants on satisfaction metrics, and analyze customer feedback for trends and discrepancies.
- Provide marketing research on service/program area, competitor pricing, industry news, and networking opportunities.
- Compile information and prepare reports.
- Coordinate recruitment of presenters and guest speakers.
- Monitor enrollments and report updates to program managers.
- Assist with developing training materials.
- May create, update, and maintain website.
- May assist in budget preparation and compile data.
- Twenty hours per week for at least a full academic year is expected.
- In‑person hours are required for all home Penn State football Saturdays, including spring practice, and several other home sporting events.
- Open to all majors and degree programs.
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Ideal candidates have experience coordinating groups of volunteers.
The starting rate for this job is $25 per hour.
