PartTime Safety Specialist Construction

SurePoint Safety is seeking a dependable Part-Time Safety Specialist to provide on-site safety support for a construction project in University Park, PA (Penn State).

This is a temporary, project-based position running June through August
, ideal for a safety professional looking for part-time field work during this timeframe. The schedule is expected to be 2-3 days per week (as needed).

This is local position only — no travel, per diem, or benefits are provided.

There is potential for additional project opportunities with SurePoint Safety following complete.

• Must be able to pass required background checks
• Must obtain or already possess a state criminal record check.
• Must obtain or already possess a PA Child Abuse History Certification
• Must obtain or already possess FBI clearance (Identgo)
• Must pass pre-employment and/or random drug screening.

• Conduct daily safety inspections, assessments, and audits
• Identify hazards and unsafe behaviors; implement corrective actions
• Support JHAs/AHAs and pre-task planning
• Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and follow-up corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations
• Deliver toolbox talks and site safety training
• Track and document safety observations, corrective actions, and trends
• Provide coaching and feedback to field personnel to strengthen safety culture

• Minimum 3–7 years of construction or industrial safety experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and written skills
• Ability to work independently on active job sites and manage safety documentation
• Comfortable in fast-paced, active construction environments
• Must be able to respond within 24 hours when called

• Degree in a safety-related field
• OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 500
• CSP, ASP, CHST, or GSP certification
• Advanced knowledge of construction safety standards
• Experience with contractor safety programs

• Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active construction areas
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift/carry safety equipment up to 50 pounds

• Hours may vary based on project activity
