Position Overview
The Department of Aerospace Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position intended for the rank of Assistant Professor
. The position is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
- Establish an impactful research program focused on aircraft design, prototyping, flight testing, and the development of intelligent systems for unmanned aerial systems.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses such as AERSP 306 Aeronautics, AERSP 402A/B Aircraft Design, AERSP 462/562 Autonomy, and related specialized graduate courses.
- Develop new courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Advising students and serving the department, university, and the profession.
- Contribute to an inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students.
- Earned doctorate in aerospace engineering or a related field by the start date.
- Demonstrated expertise in intelligent systems as applied to aeronautics, with experience in creating and implementing autonomous capabilities for UAS.
- Experience or strong potential for undergraduate and graduate teaching.
- Experience with flight testing or other practical aeronautics work is preferred.
