Position Specifics
The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for full‑time teaching‑faculty positions (non‑tenure‑track). The start date for these positions is Fall 2026. These positions will be hired at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor.
DutiesDuties include teaching introductory undergraduate in‑resident courses in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric. Onsite teaching is an essential function of this job. Lecturers and Assistant Teaching Professors teach seven courses per year;
Associate Teaching Professors and Teaching Professors teach six courses per year.
This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and or availability of funding.
Qualifications and RequirementsA master’s degree or higher in English or a related field is required by the appointment date. Rank and length of term are determined by education and qualifications. Background Checks and ClearancesThis position requires PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check in addition to applicable background checks.
