JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Position Summary

The Workforce Education and Development (WFED) program seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate general education courses related to personal financial planning, financial literacy, and money management for the workforce. These courses serve students across all academic backgrounds and are designed to build foundational financial knowledge and quantitative reasoning skills relevant to career entry and long-term financial well‑being.

Courses may focus on topics such as personal financial planning, financial decision‑making for working adults, financial well‑being for the workforce, and related subject areas. Courses are expected to be delivered in‑person at University Park
, with hybrid delivery possible depending on departmental needs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver weekly in‑person and/or hybrid instruction following approved course syllabus and objectives.
  • Support student learning of core financial concepts, quantitative reasoning, and practical financial skills.
  • Develop and facilitate applied learning activities including calculations, analysis, and scenario‑based work.
  • Evaluate student progress through assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects.
  • Maintain timely student grading and records through Canvas.
  • Hold weekly office hours, in person or via Zoom.
  • Submit final grades according to university policies.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in:
    • Personal finance
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Business
    • Workforce development / workforce education
    • or closely related field
  • Experience teaching or training young adults or adults.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred.
  • Professional experience in financial advising, financial coaching, accounting, HR benefits, retirement planning, or related areas.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate or general education courses.
  • Experience teaching quantitative subjects.
  • Familiarity with Canvas.
Appointment Terms

This is a part‑time wage appointment
, assigned for a single academic semester and contingent upon student enrollment and available funding. Reappointment may be possible based on enrollment needs, performance, and departmental priorities.
