Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Structural Engineering

Position Specifics

The College of Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applications for two tenure track faculty members in the area of structural engineering. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of scholarship in experimental structural mechanics and the ability to develop successful research programs that could utilize the state‑of‑the‑art 8,000 square foot Aramco High Bay Structural Testing Lab. We also welcome applicants who seek to foster collaborations among different departments and institutes such as the Materials Research Institute, the Institute of Energy and the Environment, the Cocoziello Institute of Real Estate Innovation, and the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences.

At the rank of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in civil, architectural, or a closely related engineering field by the start of the appointment. Assistant Professor applicants must demonstrate ability as a researcher and provide evidence of growth in scholarly or professional achievement. Associate Professor applicants must possess the same qualifications and additionally provide evidence of an established reputation in teaching as well as scholarly and professional achievement.

Both positions will have joint appointments within the Departments of Architectural Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering. Faculty members are expected to build successful collaborations within both departments, advance innovative multidisciplinary programs, conduct research aligned with the shared interests of the two departments, and provide teaching and service primarily in their home department. The academic home, rank, and other terms of appointment will be determined during the hiring process.
