Job Description And Position Requirements
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University is accepting applications for a research assistant position. The successful applicant will contribute to a research project focused on the development of novel injectable hydrogels for tissue engineering applications.
Responsibilities- Support the preparation and characterization of biomaterials.
- Carry out in vitro mammalian cell culture experiments.
- Perform biological assays using fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry.
- Assist with data collection and interpretation.
- Maintain well‑organized sample tracking and data records.
- Conduct data analysis using Microsoft Excel and Image
J.
- Holder of a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Prior experience with wet lab techniques, including material preparation and mammalian cell culture.
- Proficiency in micropipetting and general liquid handling techniques.
- Familiarity with fundamental cell‑based assays and analytical methods.
- Strong data management skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Starting rate: $20/hour.
