Job Description
The Tooker Lab in the Department of Entomology at Penn State University Park is accepting applications for summer research assistant positions. The role will involve 40 hours per week for up to 16 weeks over the summer, starting in early May 2024 with flexible start and end dates. The position is based in State College for the duration of the internship.
SummerProjects
- Ecologically-based management (e.g., biological control) of crop pests
- The role of cover crops in pest control
- Plants that can "smell" their attackers and then defend themselves
- The influence of agrochemicals on aquatic insect communities
Assist graduate students and faculty with greenhouse, laboratory, and field experiments. Gaining experience in a variety of research techniques and systems, assistants will progressively take on more independent responsibilities as they develop skills. Candidates are encouraged to be curious, motivated, and eager to learn details about plant, animal, and agricultural systems.
