POSITION SPECIFICS
A Postdoctoral Scholar appointment is available in the López‑Uribe lab at The Pennsylvania State University to work on an NSF‑funded project investigating sensory biology evolution in pollinators. The postdoc will be responsible for genome assembly and annotation, and for detecting signatures in olfactory gene receptors. The candidate is expected to complete the work and disseminate results via peer‑reviewed publications within the time frame of the position.
Opportunities exist to participate in engagement and outreach activities to transfer research outputs to the general public. Bioinformatics skills are required. The candidate should demonstrate a strong publication record and evidence of effectively working in teams and mentoring students.
- Ph.D. in biology, evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, completed by the appointment date.
- Strong bioinformatics skills and experience analyzing genomic data.
- Experience in grant writing.
- Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Experience in outreach activities.
- Legal ability to work in the U.S.
- A brief statement (up to 2 pages) addressing research experience and interests and how they relate to the responsibilities.
- Curriculum vitae, including experience in research and outreach/extension.
- Contact information for three references willing to provide letters of recommendation.
This is a term position; the length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation beyond the term length will be based on university needs, performance, and availability of funding.
