The laboratory of Mark Guiltinan and Siela Maximova in the Department of Plant Science at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA seeks to employ a highly motivated scientist for the position of Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Plant Genetic Improvement
. The role involves research on genetic improvement of Theobroma cacao, the chocolate tree, as part of an interdisciplinary team. Applicants should have experience in controlled laboratory and greenhouse plant experiments, collection of phenotypic and molecular data, and statistical analysis of complex datasets. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in plant sciences, genetics, plant breeding, or related disciplines, with evidence that all requirements were completed prior to hire.
- Experience in designing and conducting controlled laboratory and greenhouse plant experiments.
- Proficiency in collecting phenotypic and molecular data.
- Statistical analysis of complex datasets.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
- Design and execute research projects focused on genetic improvement of Theobroma cacao.

This is a term position; length of term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation beyond the initial term may be based on university need, performance, and availability of funding.
