Job Description and Position Requirements
The Forest Dynamics Lab in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management is looking for a part‑time summer undergraduate research assistant to help with projects in forest ecology and management. Most work will be at local research sites and include forest measurements, tree‑ring sampling, and research site maintenance, with occasional data entry and lab work.
We are looking for someone who is interested in fieldwork, forests, and research; can work enthusiastically outside under a range of conditions, including rain and heat, and tolerate exposure to insects and briars. The candidate should be dependable, enjoy working in a group, and possess tree identification and measurement skills. Priority will be given to students with these skills.
Background Checks / ClearancesEmployment with the University will require successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies. This position requires the use of a motor vehicle; a valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle records check will also be required in addition to standard background checks.
