Position: Pool Manager (Aquatic Programing)

Responsible for supervising and directing all activities relative to the operations of the Holmes Aquatic Center.

  • Responsible for the management and development of aquatic programming (swim team, swim lessons, etc.)
  • Supervises the Swim Team head coach and other staff to ensure aquatic safety, and prevention of incidents for all patrons.
  • Coordinate and conduct orientation and training of swim team head coach, swim lesson instructors and other staff in aquatic programming, safety, rule enforcement, and lifeguarding skills
  • Maintains attendance records for program registration, facility reports, and emergency reports
  • Responsible for the daily opening of the facility, including vacuuming, facility set-up, lifeguarding morning programming, and other pre-opening maintenance items.
  • Responsible for providing lifeguard coverage at scheduled special events.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers.
  • Respond to and resolve customer issues and requests.
  • Assist in training staff in proper safety, rule enforcement, and lifeguarding skills.
  • Administer first aid to guests.
  • Responsible for completing daily operation logs.
  • Monitor pool water chemistry per state code
  • Monitors and reduces facility operating costs related to staffing
  • Responsible for inventory of pool supplies
  • Keeps all attendance records, facility reports, and emergency reports
  • Responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
  • Performs rescues and administers first aid and medical care as needed to guests, employees and supervisors.
  • Follow established City of University Park policies and procedures
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings
  • Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance

If hired by the Parks & Recreation Department as a seasonal employee, I understand that I must adhere to and will be required to participate in the following:

  • Attend mandatory drug testing
  • Attend mandatory orientation
  • Attend all paid pre-season training sessions
  • Attend all mandatory paid in-service trainings as scheduled
  • Be at work on time for every scheduled shift
  • Report to work and remain free from being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
  • Wear staff uniform only while on duty
  • Work weekdays, weekends, holidays, opening and closing shifts, and Holmes Aquatic Center special events.
  • Be willing to substitute for others.
  • Be willing to work together for the better of the team.
  • Maintain a clean work environment in and around the facility.
  • Be available for a minimum of 70 work days during the season.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Verified experience managing and supervising aquatic programs and/or related recreation programming
  • Knowledge of pool operations and maintenance
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum 2 year of lifeguard experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year Head Lifeguard experience preferred
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer preferred
  • Certified LGI preferred
  • Preference CPO or AFO
Working Conditions

Work is performed predominately outdoors and involves direct contact with the general public. The work schedule of the Aquatic Program Pool Manager will include morning swim team practice/clinic shifts Monday through Friday and Monday afternoon swim meet shifts.

The City of University Park is currently accepting applications for Aquatic Positions. All positions require the ability to work flexible schedules up to 40 hours per week, with a preferred start date of April 27, 2026, and the availability to work Sunday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. through 8:30 pm., including holidays and special events.
Must pass a criminal background check (if 18 years old or older) and drug test.
