Job Description - PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR II (T235240)
Responsible for coordinating the patient check in/out process and/or administering certain clinical and patient services and for performing administrative duties in support of physician staff and operations. Under general supervision and according to UAB Medicine established policies and procedures, provides a variety of specialized services in support of the operations of their assigned physicians, advanced practice providers and assigned clinics. May direct the work of other clerical employees.
SummaryThis position involves coordinating scheduling for clinics, ensuring proper flow, and communicating with clinical staff, registration, triage, and outside facilities to obtain necessary medical records and coordinate after‑care follow‑ups. The role also maintains charts and records, orders supplies, and performs various administrative tasks such as typing correspondence, editing forms, and filing.
Job DutiesCoordinates scheduling for clinics including template management. Initiates template changes as needed to assist with clinic flow. Works with clinical staff to ensure returning patients are scheduled appropriately and in a timely manner. Coordinates schedules of clinical providers changing/cancelling clinics as needed.
Works with clinical staff, registration and triage staff and other office staff as needed as well as outside facilities to obtain medical record documents; and coordinating after care and follow up (return appointments) as directed by providers.
Ensures clinics are stocked with appropriate forms and information/handouts for patients and parents, as requested. Orders needed supplies and materials. Performs other administrative functions such as typing correspondence, editing forms, and filing.
Maintains charts/records. Ensures proper storage and scanning of materials generated in clinic.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years office/clerical experience in customer service, call center, physician office or other clinical environment required. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; excellent customer service and communication skills required. Must: (1) Attend all required coursework assigned by management; (2) possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management;
(3) be able to perform math & bookkeeping skills; (4) possess exceptional telephone & customer service skills; and (5) be knowledgeable of English grammar & punctuation. Business Office Education or similar coursework preferred. Currently certified as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred.
Salary Range: $16.00 - $19.71
